INNOVATE 2018- A REPORT

 

The inaugural ceremony and the biggest talk show of TED club of  MIT took place on the 29th of September at Rajam hall. INNOVATE’18 was the title of this TED inspired event under the theme – “OUT OF THE BOX”. Inauguration started at 10:00 A.M. Mr A.Rajadurai, The Dean-MIT, Dr P.Prakash, President-TED club, K.Keerthi Yazhni, Chairman-TED club, T.R.Prashanth, Vice Chairman-TED club were a major part of the felicitation.

 

 

The show started off with lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The Honorable Dean presented a motivational and interactive TED talk about the innovations that brought breakthroughs in the world. The talk show began with the speech by Dinesh, third year, CT department. He stood up on the stage as a representative of the students and spoke about how the power of students can change the world. Following that, M.Naveena, second year, CT department, performed the ancient dance moves to show how innovations can transform the art forms.

 

 

After a break in the mid-day,the show continued to showcase prominent speakers. There was Mr Yuvaprakash Angamuthu, an Asian level fitness champion, speaking about his experiences. Next speaker was Ms Aarthi, Community Developer-SP robotic works. She gave an idea about robotics and emphasized on the need to truly understand the topics and their applications. The MIT music band stepped on to the stage and rendered an energetic performance, spreading the vibes throughout the hall. After that, Hemalatha, Senior associate engineer-Caterpillar, shared her life experiences that proved wrong the saying, “Winners never quit and quitters never win”.

 

 

 

D.Arun Kumar, from the quiz club of MIT, bombarded riveting questions and also received a massive response from the audience. Adding to that,there was a game of connexions, receiving spontaneous answers from the crowd. Excitement of the gathering still stood to its level by the arrival of the most awaited speaker, Mr. Raj Mohan, YouTube artist from PutChutney. He gave his speech about how to overcome the inferiority complex within an individual and attain success.

The vote of thanks was presented by K. Keerthi Yazhni, Chairman, TED club.She thanked the speakers, organizers and the audience for their support. The show came to an end with the national anthem at around 4:00 P.M. On the whole, Innovate’18 acted as a forum for sharing ideas trailing the motto “Ideas are worth spreading”.
