ACT Inauguration ’18

The inaugural ceremony of the Association Of Computer Technology (ACT) for the year 2018-2019 took place on the 10th of September at Rajam hall. Seats of the hall were flocked by various grey, purple, orange and brown taggers. The chief guest Mr.S.Sivabalan Pandian, Senior manager, Velocloud – VMware along with Dr.A.Rajadurai, The Dean, MIT, our beloved Dr.P.Anandhakumar, Head Of The Department, Computer Technology and Dr.P.Varalakshmi, Staff Advisor, ACT arrived at 9:15AM. The function started off with Tamizh Thaai Vaazhthu, followed by the lighting of Kuthu Vilakku by the delegates.

The logo of the ACT was launched with a countdown. The Head Of the Department delivered the welcome address. He mentioned about the NBA and NIRF rankings of Anna University and motivated the students to improve the academic quality. Following that, the presidential address was given by The Dean. He spoke about the evolving computer systems, lack of security & privacy and the need of computer technologists to adapt themselves accordingly. V S Saran, third year, computer technology was honoured with a certificate and a gold coin for securing 10 CGPA in the third and fourth semesters. M.PraveenSiva, Chairman, ACT briefed the audience about the inter college symposium Prayatna and the intra college symposium Trigger and other events conducted by ACT.

Dr P. Varalakshmi introduced the chief guest and appreciated him for lending a helping hand to the underprivileged kids for their education. Following that, Mr.S.Sivabalan Pandian presented the inaugural address. He discussed about the collaboration and commitment that software engineers are expected to develop. He maintained the spark among the crowd by making his words realistic. The vote of thanks was presented by D.Amarnath, Secretary, ACT. The inaugural meet came to an end with the national anthem at 10:15AM. On the whole, the inauguration seeded a speck of eagerness about the ACT activities in the upcoming year.
