RCMIT – Inauguration

When the brilliant sun was wide awake even past its bedtime, the 26th installation ceremony of the purely service oriented club, Rotaract Club of MIT, was held on 3rd September. After praising the Tamil language, an anciently divine language, the lamps were lit following which Mr B. Vasanthan, the staff advisor of RCMIT, welcomed the gathering. Certain things deserve to be bestowed with pride so following this, the chief guest, Rotarian Mr. Solomon Victor felicitated the new team of RCMIT with shiny badges.

“You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do”. Rotaractor Mr M. Sathish, the president of RCMIT, was called on to the podium to brief out the activities of the club. When Rotaractor Mr M. Sathish concluded the report of the activities of the Rotaract club for the upcoming year, he garnered a loud applause for the good deeds. And then our honourable Dean was invited to the podium for the Presidential address. With a warm smile he reached the podium, and he primly spoke about the whims of the Nation’s children and then regarding the need and establishment of the Rotaract club (it’s origin). The best part was that, he highlighted the fact that the RCMIT had provided 10,000 INR and relief materials for flood–stricken Kerala. Good deeds demand to be mentioned aloud.

Rotaractor Ms D. Indhumathi gave a short speech about the chief guest following which the chief guest himself took over the stage. The chief guest Rotarian Mr. Solomon Victor was a real show stealer. He was the comic relief for the event, delivering timely jokes not just to make the audience laugh but also think. The best and the most significant part of his speech was about the Polio eviction from India and Srilanka. The attempt to control polio in Srilanka amidst the war between the countries was the highlight. He then stated that even a man with no idea in his life could make a good Rotaraian and change many lives. Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by Rotaractor Mr I. Mohammed Aslam, the secretary of RCMIT followed by the gathering honouring the nation with pride.
