The Tulips

By Harini Subramanian

With the appearance of beautiful tulips,
Eyes of yearning hearts spot the blossoms,
And, colourless lives turn around,
Its purple gives them jocund company,
Hovers in their mind beyond the horizon,
And fills their hearts with joy and excitement.
Lives laden with sorrow become gaiety,
And, goodness spreads with its fragrance,
But, the tulips shall go someday,
The blooms shall rest,
The colourless lives shall look for the flowers that made their hearts sway.
With the purple gone,
They shall rue seeing the tulips,
And, long to forget its fragrance.
